The MOATS Journey so far

Since launching in 2006, George Galloway's Mother of All Talkshows (MOATS) has been a bold voice in alternative media. From its humble beginning on talkSPORT to its global reach on International radio and now social media, the show has attracted tens of millions with its unapologetic approach to current events, offering unique perspectives and fostering open debate.

  • The Birth of MOATS

The Mother of All Talkshows (MOATS), presented by George Galloway, started on talkSPORT in January of 2006. It ran weekly, often airing two nights a week, until 2011.

    2006

  • 'Going State Side' - Transition and Controversy

The show then travelled across the Atlantic and ran on the New York WBAI network. An evening of international politics and economics with George Galloway and Richard D. Wolff. WBAI Pacifica Radio (99.5FM – New York) presented a powerful evening of political and economic discourse with Scottish Politico George Galloway and Progressive Economist Richard D. Wolff.

    2011

  • A Return to London Radio.

George brought the show back to the UK with a weekend show on LBC 97.3. A heritage network in London which wanted a national reach, with the fast growing popularity of national DAB coverage.

    2015

  • Talk of the town - talkRADIO

George switched sides of town, as MOATS took up a regular friday night slow on talkRADIO. The newly relaunched network, which disappeared in the naughties, as talkSPORT took over the airwaves. However in 2019 it was forced off the air by the state regulator, Ofcom, which fined the station £75k for "lack of balance" in Galloway's coverage of the Skripal Affair and his defence of Jeremy Corbyn.

    2016

  • MOATS Goes Global

In the summer of 2019, the show launched on a global platform, airing on FM in Washington DC, AM coast-to-coast across America, online with SPUTNIK radio, and featuring live feeds on Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube.

    2019

  • MOATS ONLINE AND BEYOND

As covid hit and then the Russian special military operation in Ukraine saw the closure of RT in the UK, the show went independent of all broadcasters, and across 12 different platforms and accounts, the show has gone from strength to strength, growing each year online. With temporary studios all across the UK and the world, and a ‘studio in a suitcase’ George can now broadcast from anywhere, anytime. This makes MOATS extremely dynamic and futuristic.

    2022

  • Continuing Success and Influence

Episode 29 alone had 1.15 million views, and more than 10 million have tuned in to the first 35 episodes. Right up to episode 410 which garnered more than 3m views. The show is described as the "Open University of the airwaves" with a growing global audience, offering uncensored, uncompromising takes on current affairs.

    Today

What’s next?

With a growing global audience and a proven track record, MOATS is set to continue expanding its influence, providing fresh insights and fostering critical conversations on the issues that matter most.

"George Galloway makes the powerful quake, the courtiers in the press run for cover and all the useful idiots who mouth the mindless cliches of capitalism and imperialism go mute."

Chris Hedges

Journalist & Author

"I have had the honor and privilege of knowing George Galloway as a friend and colleague for more than two decades. George has consistently been on the right side of history, whether it was opposing the cruel sanctions imposed on the Iraq people, pointing out the lies of the US-UK WMD narratives used to justify the illegal invasion of Iraq, or defending the cause of a Palestinian nation in the face of Israeli genocidal policies. George has never flinched from telling the truth, regardless of the consequences. It is my great privilege to work with George today, on the Mother of all Talk Shows, continue this great legacy of speaking truth to power in the cause of peace and justice."

Scott Ritter

American former United States Marine

"My favorite part of the MOATS broadcasts are the call-in segments. George mixes wit with intellectual wisdom. It is one of the few places where viewers can be exposed to alternative and opposing views that are treated respectfully. I am honored to be a part of the MOATS family as both a contributor and consumer of great content."
